How To Have It All As A Modern Day Male Entrepreneur

There is no better time to be a male entrepreneur.

I know that’s a bold statement but I believe it.

Why?

Because we have something that entrepreneurs 50 years ago couldn’t have even imagined: the internet.

With it, we can give ourselves the freedom to design our dreams lives.

But I see that so many male entrepreneurs aren’t using the internet to their advantage. They’re too stuck in old ways of thinking.

Many of us grew up with dads who worked all the time.

We didn’t question it because this was just how things worked: in order to provide for the family, men had to sacrifice all their time to work.

In lots of ways this isn’t true anymore, but that mentality still persists.

You’re a “real” man if you’re killing yourself working. We’ve even given it a new name: hustling.

You don’t need to “hustle” to be successful. In fact, if you really want to have it all, you shouldn’t be “hustling” at all.

To hustle is to be constantly busy and overwhelmed.

Hustling is just another word for being one misstep from failure.

You’re hustling because you’re desperate and worried.

When you’re NOT hustling, when you’re NOT busy, you’re where you’re supposed to be.

So, how do you escape from hustling?

Find Balance

Balance is almost a mythical concept for most male entrepreneurs, because we prioritize our business over every other aspect of our lives.

This seems normal.

We watched our dads do it. All of our friends do it. Hell, even all the men on TV do it.

But there’s no way for that strategy to end well.

You might end up building a successful business but the success won’t feel like a celebration.

Instead it’ll feel like you earned it by sacrificing your whole life.

The only way to be successful is to have a balance between mental well being, physical well being, business success and healthy relationships.

It’s just as important that you spend an hour with your wife as it is spending an hour responding to those emails.

Ignoring your need for nourishing, supportive relationships will isolate and depress you.

Name one depressed, affection-starved person whose life you admire and path you want to emulate.

There isn’t one because that lifestyle sounds fucking awful.

Likewise, exercise is VITAL to living the life you want.

When you’re three stone overweight, constantly tired and feel like shit, then it’s physically impossible to live your best life. All you’ll want to do is nap.

Basically, make finding balance a priority in your life. “Having it all” literally means that you have more than just a business.

When you look at the sum of your life, do you?

Leveraging Your Business

You don’t have to do things the way your father did. You don’t even have to do things the way your peers are doing it. There is another way and it’s called leveraging.

Say you’re a business coach who specializes in helping other men succeed.

You work one-on-one with men who need direction, and you love the work.

Except it’s incredibly time consuming and you can never have enough clients.

You need more clients but there isn’t enough time in the day.

So now you’re working weekends, too. And when you’re not doing one-to-one work, you’re planning for the next session.

You have no time to actively grow your business — but that doesn’t stop you from always thinking about how to grow your business.

This is where you get stuck in hustle mentality.

Other people will spin this as “hustling” instead of hat it really is: struggling.

Instead, you can leverage your business.

Instead of tying yourself to one-to-one work, you create a service that you deliver to a group of men at the same time.

This doesn’t mean that you deliver less value.

In fact, I’d argue, you make a MORE valuable product because you’re not burned out and struggling.

Figure out who your ideal client is and what their problems are, and then you create the solution for them.

It can be a 12 week course or a weekend intensive, but the main point is that you don’t have to personally administer it.

The internet — otherwise known as the entrepreneurs best friend — is your ticket to freedom here.

You automatically deliver the course materials to all new sign ups, and you can focus on following up with new leads and dealing with any customer service issues.

Oh, and you can have the freedom to actually live your life outside of working.

Become Location Independant

You don’t need to travel the world to see the benefits of becoming location independent.

Instead, freeing yourself up from being a slave to your client’s schedules, you get to work whenever it works for you.

That means you have time to spend with your family.

Time you can actually enjoy because you’re not taking a sick day or thinking that you should be working.

The only way to become location independent is to leverage your services and automatically deliver them online.

Any other business model means that you have to be working at certain times or even in certain places.

Why limit yourself to only working with people who live close to you?

That might have been how it had to work in the past but we don’t have that same limitations.

We have something that our father’s never did: balance.

We get to care about our work and want to succeed, but we don’t have to sacrifice everything in order to achieve that.

We’ve realized that there’s no point in living like that because what are we working so hard for?

So that we can work more?

So that we can collect more money that we don’t have the time to spend never mind enjoy?
